Kalbe has signed an agreement with the Faculty of Medicine from University of Gadjah Mada (UGM), UGM Hospital and dr Sardjito Hospital, through its subsidiary PT Bifarma Adiluhung. The collaboration involves research, development and stem cell therapy for treatment of degenerative diseases. This event took place at the anniversary celebration of Faculty of Medicine UGM in Graha Sabha Pramana, Jogjakarta.This collaboration will cover stem cell therapy and clinical development through Kalbe’s ReGenic laboratory. Stem cell therapy will be focusing on indication such as cartilage injury, knee cartilage defect, non-union bone fracture, spinal cord injury and myocardial infarction. “This cooperation also serve as implementation of ABG (Academic, Business & Government) to promote stem cell research and service” said dr Sandy Qlintang, Director of PT Bifarma Adiluhung.

In Indonesia, currently there are 11 hospitals that officially have license from the Ministry of Health to provide stem cell service, namely Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (Jakarta) and Dr Soetomo Hospital (Surabaya) as leaders, Dr. M. Djamil Hospital (Padang), Harapan Kita Heart Centre (Jakarta), Fatmawati Hospital (Jakarta), Dharmais Cancer Hospital (Jakarta), Persahatan Hospital (Jakarta), Dr. Hasan SadikinHospital (Bandung), Dr. Sardjito Hospital (Jogjakarta), Dr. Karyadi Hospital (Semarang), and Sanglah Hospital (Bali).
