Last November, Stem Cell and Cancer Institute (SCI) participated in the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Asia 2018.  This 3 days event was held at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre, one of the largest multi-purpose convention and exhibition facilities in the centre of the city in Singapore.

ESMO Asia 2018 offers an annual platform for the presentation of original research and state-of-art oncology education to oncologist in the Asia region. Twenty-one regional oncology societies supported this congress. The programmes were designed to meet needs of multi-professional and multi-cultural audience from all areas of cancer research, diagnosis, and care.

In this ESMO Asia 2018 event, Cancer Translational Research team from SCI, submitted an abstract and participated as poster presenter. We shared the results of our research in lung cancer, which is a collaborative effort with Rumah Sakit Persahabatan (dr. Achmad Hudoyo SpP (K), dr. Sita Andarini, PhD, SpP (K), and dr. Jamal Zaini PhD, SpP (K) and Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia (LIPI, Asep M. Ridwanullah MSc.). The poster was presented by Najmiatul Masykura, entitled ”Plasma KRAS Mutation in Indonesian Lung Cancer Patients with Smoking History, Treated with Chemotherapy”.

ESMO Asia 2018 event covered several topics, including the updates regarding the newest treatment for patients and biomarkers related to Breast, Thoracic, Sarcoma, Gastrointestinal, and Head and neck Cancer. We are looking forward for the next year ESMO event, to keep up us updated with the recent development of cancer research.
